These soft white seeds have a mild, grassy flavor, which can be intensified by toasting the raw buckwheat groats. This gluten free grain is a great addition to soups and salads and is a must-have ingredient for classic Eastern European dishes like kasha varnishkes and potato knish.

Directions

Basic Cooking Instructions

Bring 2 cups water to a boil in a small pot. Add 1 cup buckwheat and ½ tsp salt. Return to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer, cover and cook until tender, 10-15 minutes. Drain off any remaining water. Makes 4 servings.
