What’s Cinnamon?
It’s fas-CINN-ating!
- Cinnamon is the inner bark of a bushy tropical evergreen tree.
- It comes in "quills," strips of bark rolled one in another.
- For thousands of years, cinnamon has been used for medicinal purposes.
- Before Egypt had pyramids, ancient merchants are said to have carried cinnamon from Sri Lanka to the Middle East-around 3,500 miles!
- In Mexico, cinnamon is added to coffee and hot chocolate and also brewed as a tea.
