Yellow Pau d’Arco 

Some of our favorite yellow Pau d’Arco, commonly known as amarelo, comes from Bello Horizonte, a small village deep in the Peruvian Amazon. It’s harvested in the late winter through the early spring before the seasonal rains make the jungle nearly impassible. The men cut and transport the bark back to the village where the women clean and dry it to be processed.

 

Pau d’Arco wild sourcing is done with great care, providing the community with much needed employment and income. The health of the forest is maintained through limited and selective collection and intensive replanting.
